Personalize the Process

There should be more to book publishing than just making money for the publisher. There are countless stories and self-help books out there that will never get published. That’s because the publisher is interested in one thing only – a profit, making money for the publisher off of your hard work and inspiration. We believe there is more to publishing: stories that will make this a better world and provide inspiration for others.

We urge you to leave behind your life story as an inspiration for your children and future generations. We, in short, seek to democratize publishing – make it a people process, where any and everybody can have a chance to get a book in print. Many people have dreamed and thought about writing a book but finding a publisher is just too big a hassle. They are reluctant to start something they know nothing about. We want to simplify that process.

In J.R.R. Tolkien’s brilliant story The Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins is a reluctant hobbit, coaxed from a fairly conservative life and environment to a life of adventures. In chapter six of his final book, he sits surrounded by papers and pen, writing down his story.

Bilbo Books is designed to coax the reluctant writer to fulfill his often dormant dream of having a book printed, which he can distribute to his family and friends, but also sell to bookstores for whatever distribution he may choose. We believe everyone should write his memoirs. No matter what you have done, tried, or achieved, you are a survivor, and have learned lessons you should share with your descendants and with others open to learning from the path you have trod.

We will take your manuscript, edit it, design a cover for it, develop promotional material, and give you suggestions as to which stores you might approach as possible outlets. We would then help you arrange book signing sessions, and we will help you with press releases and promotions.

Copies of your book will be placed in local libraries, the state archives, and local historical societies. You may order as many copies as you want for family and friends at a reasonable fee. You may resell them at bookstores for whatever profit you wish to make.
